The Alhambra

a visit you will never forget

The Alhambra is Spain’s – and Europe’s – most visited monument. Set against the brooding Sierra Nevada peaks, this fortified palace started life as a walled citadel before becoming the opulent seat of Granada’s Nasrid emirs. It is currently the only Palatine City of the Islamic period which has been preserved thanks to its continuous use over time.

Their showpiece palaces, the 14th-century Palacios Nazaríes are among the finest Islamic buildings in Europe and, together with the Generalife gardens, designed as a resting area, form the Alhambra’s great headline act. A unique experience for all the senses.

Tickets sell out quickly due to the access restrictions for conservation reasons, so plan your visit and book in advance. There are many ticket options as well as guided tours available. Read our tips to make your Alhambra visit unforgettable.
